Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Review

Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a television show that debuted last fall and most people were underwhelmed, however, not me. I had read in an interview with Joss Whedon, joss-whedoncreator of the show, that this would not be all that dissimilar from an episode of Buffy he had done years earlier in season 3 called the Zeppo.3X13ZEP0888-500x375 This episode revolves around Zander not really being considered part of the gang because he does not have any super powers to speak of. It’s almost like he’s their mascot. Much like Agents of Shield deals with the non-superpowered agents. So why did everyone get so mad at this when it was clear from the title that this was the case. Did audiences really expect to see Iron Man or Captain America in every episode or, for that matter, even in one. These actors are movie stars, the only reason they we got Samuel L. Jackson is because he has some cameo clause in his contract.MV5BMTM4Nzc4MDQ3OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMTYzMTAwMDE@._V1_SY747_SX560_
The only point I am trying to make is that most shows have a degree of growing pains and this one is just like that.agents-shield-extremis As the season has gone on I think it has vastly improved and will continue to do so in season two. But, in all honesty, look at another great sci-fi franchise, Star Trek T.N.G., this show, if left at season one, would not have had the kind of legacy that it has now. Next Gen got better every season and it had its growing pains especially in season one. There are also countless others that have only had one season and then people realized, oh, my god, I can’t believe I missed that. This show could be one of these if you don’t at least give it a chance. We don’t want another show taken from us in its prime like Firefly or Dollhouse.Firefly-banner-3
